Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a tattoo booking?
Our artists self-manage their own calendars. Click here to go to the 'request a consultation' page, fill out the form, and one of our artists will be in touch with you promptly via email to organise your consultation and booking. Please click here for a full guide on how we manage enquiries and appointments.
Do you have a shop phone number?
Yes, we do. You can text or call us on 0478 119 318. Our studio assistant is available between 9am-2pm Tues-Fri for phone enquiries. Alternatively, you can direct message us on Facebook or Instagram.
How much do you charge for a tattoo?
As a guide our hourly rate is $250 and the minimum tattoo charge is $200, however we do treat our clients individually and some smaller tattoo pieces will be quoted up front rather than by the hour. This will be discussed at your consultation.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, we do take deposits for all bookings. The deposit can range from $50-$200 at the artists discretion depending on the size of your tattoo, and will come off the total cost. 48 hours prior to your booking the deposit will become non-refundable in case of cancellation, no-show, or change-of-mind.
What is the best payment method?
Cash please. We do not have EFTPOS facilities. Payment can also be made directly to your artist via EFT before you leave the studio after your tattoo.
Do you offer Afterpay, Zippay or similar payment options?
No, we do not offer any of these services or payment plans.
Where can I park?
Please see an in-depth guide to local parking HERE.
Is there anyone you can't tattoo?
Pregnant or breatfeeding women, anyone with transmittable diseases or anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Black Diamond Tattoo and all artists working within our studio reserve the right to refuse our service to anyone at anytime under any condition.
Can I get a tattoo if I’m under 18 years of age?
We will not, under any circumstances tattoo anyone under the age of 18 (even with parental consent). It is illegal to tattoo anyone under the age of 18 years with a penalty of $5,000.00 or 12 months imprisonment.
Do you tattoo fingers or faces?
These tattoos are approached on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of your artist. Please see our full guide to face, hand, and finger tattoos here.
Do your artists do cover ups?
Yes we do. We will, of course have to have a look at the existing tattoo before we can advise you of the best approach. In some cases using laser tattoo removal to lighten the tattoo first is preferable. Please see our comprehensive guide to covering your tattoo here.
Can you rework/finish my old tattoo?
These enquiries are approached on a case-by-case basis. In most cases we do not finish other artists’ tattoos as we uphold a very high standard of tattooing. However, we do understand circumstances change and your original artist is not always an option. If we feel we can confidently work with an existing tattoo and offer a high-quality service, we will consider re-working or finishing your tattoo. Our artists reserve the right to refuse additions to or reworks of another artists’ work.
Can you tattoo over scarring?
Yes, we can. However, we approach this on a case-by-case basis and our shop policy is to wait until the scarring is at least two (2) years old. While the surface layer may look healed, the layer in which the ink is deposited can stay in a ‘healing’ stage for up to two years post-injury/surgery. This means that if you tattoo over the area beforehand, you risk the design integrity and your tattoo may heal in unexpected ways, leaving you with a tattoo that you are unsatisfied with.
How long is the waiting period?
The wait period could be anywhere from 1 day to 3 months. It does vary greatly depending on the tattoo artist, the time of the year, the size of the tattoo, preparation required etc.
